I’m wondering where you’re looking for talent in Fresno. I understand the general feeling of apathy in this town.. I work with some people that are content with doing work that’s just enough to get by. I’m interested in voice work. I wasn’t aware of a potential market in town, therefore, I’ve never really looked for it. For me, if I see an ad on Craigslist for models or actors I automatically jump to a scam. Good luck with your search.

Thank you for your response. What you finished up with (see an ad on Craigslist . . .automatically jump to a scam) goes to my point. Why is it a scam in Fresno but not in LA or SF (rhetorical)? It isn’t a scam but in Fresno, besides apathy, the skepticism is no high that no one ventures to engage. All it takes is a phone call or few to get to know what is going on with any person or company. As I described above people in other areas went through what I considered a normal interaction.

To answer the question about where I was looking; I was looking on CL primarily and confronted/propositioned a few people in the street.

This is interesting as I’ve noticed a change in people whenever I head south to LA. I’ve also spoken to people who have moved from the Central Valley to a larger city (Sacramento, LA) but then came back. Often times they will pick up the same frustration as yours; there is something different about the people in Fresno. I can’t chime in too much about this experience as I have never lived outside of Fresno, but I will say Fresnains are afraid to meet others outside of their inner circle.

Unfortunately this disconnect in communication will make it harder to meet new people. I’ve talked with others about how the dating scene here is closed off. I often times wonder if that’s why so many people I know stay with their childhood/teenage lovers because it’s too hard otherwise. I didn’t think this personal social culture would affect business as well.
